SPARK - Igniting Students

Born from the innovative mind of Lindsey Fair during her MBA applied project at Cape Breton University, SPARK embodies the spirit of applied learning. As a part-time faculty member at St. Lawrence College's School of Business, Fair sought to revolutionize hands-on education for advertising students. A few years later, a funding opportunity at the College catalyzed the creation of a student-led marketing communications team, spearheaded by College alumni Ricardo Guiliani and Mike Kusters. These humble beginnings over a decade ago sparked the creation of a fee-for-service marketing communications agency, empowering students to collaborate with both internal and external clients.

Today, SPARK is a dynamic force in Kingston, harnessing the power of storytelling, design, and technology to help businesses forge meaningful connections and leave a lasting impression. Their diverse services encompass marketing, design, bookkeeping, and AI & automation, catering to a wide range of clients, including the Kingston Military Family Resource Centre and Queen's University. From branding and website development to cutting-edge AI solutions, SPARK empowers businesses to thrive in the digital age. Students also contribute to the community by developing insightful blog posts that offer free tips and tricks for small businesses.

SPARK has been a launchpad for over 100 students, with many achieving remarkable professional success due to this unparalleled learning experience. Over the past 10 years, this student-driven enterprise has consistently generated over $100,000 annually, proving that innovation and education can go hand-in-hand.

Thanks to the co-creators Lindsey Fair, Ricardo Guiliani, Mike Kusters, Breanne Johnson, Steve Janssens, Gerhard Fruendorfer, and the many many accomplished students.
